So I just finished up my interview with Digital Dharma who are playing this weeks Digital Friday at The Dry Dock in Newburgh. Thinking about this upcoming show has got me silly hyper. Last week Electric Friday (henceforth Digital Fridays) brought a huge turnout from all over and there was never a dull moment on the dance floor.
If you haven’t been to The Dry Dock let me just brief you; the Dry Dock is tucked in with the store fronts on 90 Broadway, just before you hit the waterfront. From the outside the Dry Dock appears to be a small dive bar, but don’t be mislead. Initial entrance past security, where all guests are I.D.-ed, brings you into a vestibule where, covers are paid, wrist bands applied, and yes… free coat check! Through the second vestibule door you really see the expanse of the whole place. The bar seems to stretch a mile long and is usually operated by around four or more bartenders. Above the dance floor is a balcony, where last Friday we had the DJ’s set up, so awesome to have them up above the crowd going nuts. There’s also a second bar and additional seating on the second floor, when open. Below the main floor is also additional seating and pool tables.
The crowd was already a good size when I got there but I had no problem getting a drink. It did take awhile however, to say hi to everyone I, or someone else in my ‘crew’ knew. We eventually took our shot, took our ‘babes on the town picture’, and hit the dance floor. There is this really tempting looking pole, two of them as a matter of fact, but be warned here and now, they are for structural support and not fantasy stripping.
All in all it was a great time. It’s Wednesday and we’re still talking about how ruckus it got. Looking forward to rocking with M?M?, RPM (Congrats on the new EP Release!!!), Digital Hot Sauce, Chris Bale, J. Demonic, Dj Duces, Heat Generator, and Digital Dharma! This Friday Beacon In The Dark Body Painting Collective will be supplying extra glow, auditioning models and doing live body painting. Check back later for my artist spotlight on Digital Dharma. Hope to see you Friday! I’ll buy you a shot if you let me know you’re coming in advance.
As always, Feel Free to Be Free!
