If you don't know who Gramatik is let us fill you in he is an upcoming artist underPretty Lights. Gramatik also was the closer at the Showcase Tent at Camp Bisco11! Hope you all enjoy!
Going down
the lineup, Roots Collider is a band you don’t want to miss out on.
A quad of four talented and enthusiastic men makes up the band since
2010. Their beats and rhythm produce a “dry and heavy livetronica
dubcore” that can only be described as a full body experience in a
live crowd.
The four
combine drum and bass, reggae, dubstep, elctro-rock, and future funk
– claiming their main
purpose is to “…supercollide these genres into a single,
unstoppable aesthetic force”.
Originally
from Rochester, NY, the band has traveled regionally and shared the
stage with big names such as 12th
Planet, Kill the Noise, The Manhattan Project, and more! Also, to add
to their success, the band is taking on music festivals including
F.O.E Music Fest and Camp Bisco XI!
“Make
your own kind of music, sing your own special song. Make your own
kind of music, even if nobody else sings along.”
These
are the words that mark Alpha Data’s information page. However, I
doubt no one is not singing or dancing along to his beats.
So,
who is Alpha Data? Just your typical law student meets DJ. Wait,
what? Yes. That’s right. Alpha Data, or James Ristvedt is a law
student by day who balances his alter ego in the dirty electronic
beats he makes by night. Listening to his tracks, I was surprised to
find myself jamming writing this blog and having flash backs of
Excision-like sounds mixed with a little Glitch Mob.
Alpha
Data, emerging just a year ago, has delivered glitch-hop originals
and remixes that carried his first debut,Nefertiti,
to #1 on Beatports’ Glitch Hop list and #50 on their all genre
list. His fast break into the EDM scene has landed him at national
shows, opening for The Disco Biscuits and sharing the stage with
names including, Flux Pavillion and Shpongle.
F.O.E
Music Fest adds to his increasing list of festivals and shows and his
momentum in the scene doesn’t seem to be slowing down.
Let’s keep the enthusiasm going for Freedom of Expression 2 coming to New Yorkthis August with our next featured artist, the Maniac Agenda!!
The Maniac Agenda is the next generation of the highly successful duo the Maniac All-Stars which featured founding members Ramen and Satisfaction. With the addition of Leonardo the electronic rock trio has experienced monumental success over the past year playing huge festivals such as Camp Bisco, The Big Up, and Rock the Resort along side edm hard hitters Prety Lights, Kill the Noise, Flying Lotus, STS9 and many more! The group has even peaked at number 50 on the itunes electronic chart with their remix of Celldweller’s hit louder than words, and was ranked 3rd on Reverbnations hottest electronic chart next to likes of superstar and grammy award winner David Guetta!

Next up on the F.O.E Music Fest’s
lineup to look at is, DJ Kos.
Spinning Electro-House for over 25
years, DJ Kos brings live scratching and mixing to all of his
performances. What’s different about him? His ability to create
original and all new beats. The use of music and video samples brings
crazy vibes to his songs that are sure to make you smile. DJ Kos’
main concern is to get the crowd in love with sounds and visuals. All
of his energy is spent on making something you haven’t heard before
and making you feel free.
A resident of Reno, NV – DJ Kos,
spends a lot of time mixing at clubs and shows. When he’s not
performing, he spends his time editing videos for RemixVidz and
MixNight.
Blogging for Upstate Productions, I
read a lot of biographies about artists. However, NONE stand out like
reading J E L O’s! This man cares about one thing and one thing
only, having fun. Humor and happiness fill all of his social media
and music pages and would solely persuade me to buy tickets to the Freedom of Expression Music Fest if I were skeptical.
Resident of Toronto, JELO has been the
leader in electronic music there for almost two decades. His beats
are fun, fast, and funky and his live performances are always 100%
original. He describes his music as magical, hard-hitting, and unique
– creating an energy that gives you chills. His style and beats has
awarded him “The People’s DJ” in Canada and has led him to
remix with musical sensations, including Deadmau5.
Besides the F.O.E Music Fest, JELO is
touring all over Canada and the United States in 2012. In past years,
JELO has been seen at Ultra, the 420 Festival, and other music
gatherings around the world. He he has no intention of stopping soon,
so if you don’t know him – now you do.
We’re so excited about the second annual Freedom of Expression Music Festival happening August 3rd-5th, and we’re keeping the moment going right up til the fest with special artist feature articles! Next up, BoomBox.
Alabama Natives Russ Randolph and Zion Rock Gaudchaux have been producing music together as BoomBox since 2004. The duo crosses genre lines between jam music and electronic flawlessly, earning them spots at some of the country’s largest music festivals such as Moe and Umphreys Mcgee’s Summer Camp and this year’s 11th annual Jam Cruise alongside Big Gigantic and Lettuce. Technically speaking, the band refuses to label their music as anything but rock n roll but the unique sound they produce mixes in elements of house, backbeat, psychedelic, and rhythm and blues.
The thing that keeps fans wanting more from this quickly rising pair is the fact that every show is unique, featuring completely live music “It’s all natural, it’s all in real time, and that’s why it’s Rock ‘n’ Roll”, says Godchaux. Be sure to check out all their releases here and both full length albums as we work our way towards FOE 2
With the recent release of the 2nd annual Freedom of Expression Music Fest’s lineup, it is only customary to take a deeper look into the performers of the three-day long festival. We’re starting with the one and only, Lazy Rich.
A UK native, like the best are, Lazy Rich hit the studio only five years ago. With his widespread success, its safe to say Lazy Rich is anything but lazy.
Most of Lazy Rich’s success grew in 2011, topping charts on Beatport, TrackItDown, Juno, and TheBuzz. His style quickly gave him a reputable name and has led him to remix and collaborate with musical icons ranging from Lady Gaga to Deadmau5 and my personal favorite, Porter Robinson-
So what is his musical preference? The mind blowing and powerful Electro-House. Considered a forward-thinker in this ever-popular genre, Lazy Rich has become an initiator in ‘complextro’ and has created a unique sound that makes the people go crazy. His tracks have spread like wildfire over the radio, Internet, and even on TV shows and films. All in all, Lazy Rich’s positive reputation has gained him support from big time names like Tiesto, Fedde Le Grande, and many more.
Rich, featured at Ultra Music Festival this year, is scheduled to perform at F.O.E Music Fest and Sunset Music Fest, as well as, internationally throughout 2012. Stay on top of his sounds, and catch him at F.O.E by purchasing TICKETS here.
